There is a lot of difference in TGT, PGT and PRT Categories depending on their eligibility to teach a particular grade.
PRT - Can teach up to 5th Grade
TGT - Can teach up to 10th Grade
PGT - Can teach only 11th and 12th Grade

UPTET is the initial step to becoming a Government teacher, without a Teacher Training Certificate, this usually is not possible to pursue a teaching career in the state. The UPTET Teacher Training certificate is valid for a period of 5 years.
