UPTET 2025 Exam Pattern

The UPTET Exam Pattern consists of 2 papers one which is held for the Primary Level and the other for the Secondary Level. The UPTET Exam is held in an offline mode with about 150 Multiple Choice Questions. The UPTET Exam Pattern highlights for Paper 1 and Paper 2 are as follows:

Paper-1

• Paper 1 of UPTET is for candidates who want to become a teacher for students belonging to Grades 1 to 5.
• The duration of UPTET Paper 1 is for 150 minutes.
• Every question carries 1 mark and there is n negative marking.
• Paper-1 has 5 sections - (Child Development, Learning, and pedagogy, Languages 1&2, Maths and EVS).
• Every Section has 30 questions.
• Every question has about 4 options to choose from.

Paper-2

• UPTET Paper 2 is conducted for students belonging to Grades 6 to 8.
• It consists of 4 sections- Child Development, Learning and Pedagogy, 1st Language and 2nd  Language) carry 30 questions each.
• Maths/Social Studies carry 60 Questions.
• Every Question in UPTET Paper 2 carries 1 mark.
• Every question has 4 answer choices.

UPTET Entrance Exam will include 2 papers - UPTET Paper 1 would be organized for Primary level while Paper 2 would be held for Upper Primary Level. Both the papers would have 150 Multiple Choice Questions of 1 mark each.There would be no negative marking in UPTET.  The complete UPTET Exam Pattern is as explained below:

Paper 1 (Primary): Candidates who want to be appointed as primary level teachers for Grade 1 to 5 should appear for UPTET Paper 1 alone.

Paper 2( Upper Primary): Candidates who want to be appointed as Upper Primary Level Teachers for Grades 6th to 8th should appear for UPTET Paper 2 alone.

Both Papers: Candidates wanting to become teachers for both levels should appear in both the exams.
