CTET Exam pattern is well-defined by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for teachers vacancy in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodya Vidyalaya, and others. The candidates can have a look at the CTET exam pattern 2019 before start preparing for the exam.

CTET 2019 Exam Pattern:

  • All the questions are multiple choice based. 
  • Every question carries 1 mark. 
  • There is no negative marking in the question paper.

Paper 1 is for teachers from Grade 1 to 5.

Paper 2 would be for a person who wants to be a teacher for grades 6 to 8.

A person who intends to become a teacher for both the levels has to appear in both the papers.

Paper 1: Primary stage Duration of exam: 2.5 hours

CTET Paper 1 Questions Pattern-

  • The test items in Language 1 would be focusing on proficiencies relating to the medium of instruction.
  • The Language 2 would be focusing on the various elements of a language, communication and comprehension capabilities.
  • Language 1 and 2 are separate papers.
  • The choice is available to a candidate to select Language 1 and 2 among a list of options available as per his proficiency in the same.
  • The test items in Maths and Environmental studies would focus on problem-solving capabilities and understanding of various subjects.
  • The questions in stage 1 would be based on topics from NCERT Syllabus for Grades 1 to 5, but their difficulty stage would be up to the secondary stage.

Paper 2: Grades six to eight elementary stage- Duration: 2.5 hours
