The first stage of the KVPY selection procedure is the Aptitude test which is going to take place in November 2019. The exam is conducted across major cities in India. It will be conducted in both English and Hindi language. All the question will be in Multiple choice formats.
Candidates are called for an interview based on the aptitude test result. To attain scholarship candidate requires to clear both aptitude test and interview.
Following weight-age has been given to two sections:
- Aptitude Test – 75%
- Interview marks in the streams SA, SB and SX - 25%
There are two types of fellowship offered for the students; the monthly fellowship of Rs.5000 is given to SA/SX/SB - during 1st to 3rd years of - B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S. and the monthly fellowship of Rs.7000 is given to SA/SX/SB - during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat.

The Fellow continues to study Basic Science courses in school/junior college/university, and maintains a minimum level of academic performance of first class or 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate or equivalent grade points and the students has to necessarily pass all the subjects prescribed for that particular academic year.
