National Institute of Industrial Engineering, which was previously known as National Institute of Training in Industrial Engineering, is an educational institute that offers Postgraduate education. The establishment of the institute took place in the academic year of 1963 with the help of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and it was funded by Government of India. The institute is located in Mumbai, Maharashtra and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is a Public Business School that offers postgraduate diploma courses in various fields besides Industrial Engineering. National Institutional Ranking Frame (NIRF) has ranked NITIE 14^th place among management schools in India. 

The NITIE campus of the Institute is spread over an area of 67 acres. Some of the portions are still under improvement. NITIE is blessed with a sprawling scenic beauty. It provides a spacious infrastructure with all the facilities available in it. That includes classrooms (fully air-conditioned), laboratories (equipped with the required no. of computers), a computer center (all the computers are connected through LAN), playground and an auditorium. Washrooms are neat and clean. The campus has been, recently, enabled with Wi-Fi. The institute also provides with Girls' and Boys' hostels. The Library is fully fledged with the entire recent informative book.

The institute has also established an Advanced Center of Excellence in Operations and Manufacturing Management along with a Center of Excellence in Ergonomics and Human Factor Engineering.

NITIE offers Post Graduation Diploma Program in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management, Industrial Safety & Environmental Management, Materials Management and Project Management.

• Admission to PGDIE and PGDMM takes place through GATE examination

The NITIE courses curriculum is designed according to industry requirements. Avartan Business meet is an event where the students are given lectures related to their respective fields. Arohan is the cultural event conducted by the cultural committee and Josh is Sports festival conducted by the sports committee.
